Dry Fix Bonding Gutter

Dry Fix bonding gutters are used to provide a watertight junction above party walls, between different roof finishes on adjacent properties when re-roofing.

  • Expose party wall by removing slates/tiles on both sides and cut the battens back so the party wall is located and will be central both sides.
  • Place new underlay over party wall and ensure this underlay is fit under pre-existing battens.
  • The Dry fix Bonding Gutter must be fit under adjoining battens and placed centrally over party wall. Ensuring that adjoining roof profiles from both properties fit central to the upstand.
  • Allow 160mm overlap between lengths of Bonding gutter. And at the termination point you must ensure 50mm overlap to achieve effective water runoff into gutter.
  • Nail in place with minimum of 20mm galvanised clout nail
  • Tiles must be butted up to central upstand, and securely fixed as per tile manufacturer’s instructions and regulations.

Installing Firebreak

  • Roofing Battens must be cut back and a gap of 100mm must be left across the party wall
  • A bed of mortar is to be applied in the gap from Eaves to Ridge along the gap and onto the party wall.
  • Once mortar is dry, fit bonding gutter as per above instructions.
