Dry Fix Valley Troughs

1. Install valley boards, these must be minimum 6mm thick (typically 6mm ply board) Either between the rafters or on top to comply with BS5534 and fix to the rafters/noggins. Noggins can be made from 50mm x 25mm timbers. The width of the valley boards should be minimum 50mm wider than the Dryfix Valley Trough.
2. The valley boards must be lined with a layer of roofing membrane, either Type 1F in accordance with BS 8747:2007 or BBA/third party approved non-bituminous type, for the width of the valley boards, ensuring the membrane is not exposed at the eaves.
3. Lay the Dry fix valley on the central point of the valley boards, pinch the central upstand together at the base and push down firmly to the boards, before fixing into place with minimum of 20mm galvanised clout nail spaced out every 400mm.
4. The Dry fix Valley must overlap the fascia board by 50mm so water can be discharged into gutter.
5. Install the roofing membrane overlapping the dry valley & mitre cut battens to the outer water bar of the valley and fix them to rafters/noggins.
6. Trim off excess membrane between the two outer water bars and then tile or slate as normal.
